Barn Animals BY4(1952)  1606(1956)
Note - Some BY4 early production kits included dark brown horses, cows, and pigs.

BY4 kits included 1 horse with gray painted hoofs plus a 2nd one the same color unpainted, 1606 kits had no painted hoofs.

1606 horses were used on the 1959 Lionel General flat car and are marked 'BB' on their belly.

Animals in BY4 kits have a gloss finish, 1606 are satin finish animals.

Either kit number includes 3 horses, 4 standing cows, 3 cows laying down, 4 sheep, 4 pigs.


Barn BN1(1950)  1601(1956)  1704(1964)  1811(1967)  1851(1971)  1987(1980)

Note - BN1 1st box style has no color sticker, 2nd style has a color sticker with 2 colors. upper color is roof color, lower color is wall color.  3rd style box has the 2 colors stamped, not a sticker.

Early production reds are darker then later production reds.

Chrome trim only used in 1954 and 1955 with white wall and red roof kit. 1955 box has Disney contest sticker, 1954 does not.

Horse weathervane ALWAYS matches roof color, roof vents ALWAYS match wall color.

Red walls ONLY came in BN1 kits.


Bridge and Pond BL2(1950)  2417(1962)

Note - 2417 kit has a marbled pond a with paper insert and the bridge has much thinner rails. This was issued as an 'HO' kit even though it is the same pond as the 'O' gauge BL2

Note - 1920 kits can have heavily marbled gray pieces.

Notes - Plasticville 1622 silo halves have 2 silo pins and 4 holes. Littletown has 4 pins and 4 holes.


Farm buildings and animals  1617(1956)  1981(1980)

Note - Color of feed trough usually matches roof color.

There are 16 animals in the complete set.  Sets are ALWAYS a single color, never 2 colors.


Farm Implements 1302(1956)  1981(1980)  45603(1998)

Note - buildings in the 1981 kits are always a satin finish.​


Greenhouse  1804(1959)

Note - Doors ALWAYS matches base color.


Roadside Stand  1806(1962)  1923(1977)

​Note - 1806 has a roof sign with molded letters. 1923 has a smooth signs and gets a sticker applied.
